Experience

I have an abundance of experience working with young people.  Across my five school sites, I work daily with young people with a range of needs including self-harming, suicidality, high-risk behaviours, struggling with emotional regulation and self-worth.  I work directly with young people who are stepping out of tier 4 adolescent mental health services and dealing with adolescent mental health; young people who are neurodiverse, who have learning difficulties or physical disabilities and who may be struggling with identity, self-confidence, obesity and Body Dysmorphia.

Within my role, I lead the school’s Personal Development and Welfare including our Personal, Social, Health, Cultural education and Spiritual, Moral and Cultural curriculum and Careers provision. Also, I lead the school’s student services and pastoral care creating a whole-school strategic and operational approach to improve student attendance and fostering an atmosphere that is conducive for learning and promotes tolerance, resilience, fairness and equal opportunities for all, with due regard for protected characteristics.

I believe that every young person deserves to be offered the opportunity to achieve their full academic potential. They should be encouraged to be seen, to be heard and guided to make sense of themselves, their environment and their place in their community.

my passion

Proud to have led my school to receive the School Improvement Liverpool Health & Wellbeing Award.

I have been a volunteer mentor working on a one-to-one basis supporting the emotional and mental health of children and young people working across Yorkshire and the North West. I  received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Mayor of Warrington to recognise my valuable determination, motivation and achievement with children, young people and families in Warrington.

I have a passion for social justice, equality, diversity and inclusion. I head our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team and have received Outstanding in The Navajo Merseyside & Cheshire LGBTIQA+ Charter Mark 2021 and been awarded the Leeds Beckett Award for Inclusive Education.

I also have an interest in Academic Resilience and students’ intrinsic motivation for learning to assist in overcoming any barriers to educational achievement. I am committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive learning and working environment where everyone within a school can flourish and reach their full potential.
